Known historically as Liangzhou, Wuwei sits at the eastern entrance to the Hexi Corridor. Its heritage connects Silk Road movement with scholarship, archaeology and the cultures that travelled through this narrow passage.
Visit the courtyards of the Confucian Temple and Leitai, where the celebrated bronze galloping horse was discovered. The original bronze belongs to the Gansu Provincial Museum in Lanzhou, making the two cities complementary stops.
