Mount Tai is the eastern member of the Five Great Peaks. Emperors came here for rites, and the mountain’s temples, stone inscriptions and stairways reflect a cultural history as compelling as its high viewpoints.
A visit can be a long traditional climb or a gentler combination of transport and shorter walks. Dai Temple in Tai’an gives the ascent valuable context; an overnight stay creates space for both the built heritage and the mountain itself.
