Anshun

Anshun is a base for Huangguoshu’s waterfall landscape and for cultural visits that reveal another side of central Guizhou. Separate the major scenic day from the quieter exploration around it.

Choose a manageable sequence within the waterfall area, taking account of steps, spray and internal transport. Tunpu settlement traditions can add a cultural chapter on a different day rather than becoming a hurried roadside stop.

Rainfall changes the flow and access conditions. Wear shoes with grip, protect belongings from spray and keep the route adaptable.

Huangguoshu & the wider waterfall area

Huangguoshu is more than one viewpoint: the wider scenic area includes different cascades and walking sections. Decide which areas fit your pace, with time for internal transport and wet paths. Water volume changes the appearance through the year.

Tianlong Tunpu: settlement & performance

Tianlong introduces the tunpu settlements associated with Ming-era military migration. Stone-built lanes, local dress and traditions such as dixi ground opera provide cultural context. Any performance should be confirmed and distinguished from ordinary daily practice.

Dragon Palace or a slower countryside day

The Dragon Palace cave-and-water landscape offers another excursion. Choose it as a separate focus instead of adding it automatically after a full waterfall day. A quieter village or food-led visit may provide a better contrast for some travellers.

Time well spent.

2 days · water & village history

Devote one day to Huangguoshu and another to a tunpu-focused cultural visit.

3 days · a second landscape

Add Dragon Palace or a more relaxed countryside day, adjusting around rain and access.

At the local table

Local noodles and Guizhou’s sour and spicy flavours provide a lively contrast to landscape visits. Keep meals and rest stops part of the route.
