Tiantai Mountain.
Guoqing Temple, Shiliang Waterfall and the Hanshan–Shide story at the eastern end of the poetry road.

Tiantai Mountain
Tiantai is more than a single temple stop. Mountain paths, Buddhist history, Daoist traditions and poetry intersect here; Guoqing Temple is a key site in the Tiantai Buddhist tradition, while Shiliang and the Cold Cliff landscape belong to another, more rugged mountain chapter.
Plan Guoqing Temple and the town’s cultural sites on one day; leave another for Shiliang or a suitable mountain walk. Access to Cold Cliff and individual trails should be checked before promising a visit.
Hanshan & Shide.
Tiantai remembers the poet-hermit Hanshan at Cold Cliff and his companion Shide at Guoqing Temple. In local tradition, Shide shared food from the temple kitchen with Hanshan; their unlikely friendship later made them symbols of harmony and companionship.
Guoqing’s Three Worthies Hall honours Hanshan, Shide and the monk Fenggan. Hanshan’s spare, playful poems travelled much farther: Gary Snyder’s English translations helped bring them to American readers and the Beat literary world.
These are remembered stories, not a precisely documented walking route. Suzhou’s Hanshan Temple is a different place.
